ABOUT THE PLAY

André & Dorine is a poignant depiction of the enduring love between an elderly couple as their lives are disrupted, but not overcome, by dementia.

This non-verbal theatre piece uses movement, puppetry, and mask to celebrate the shared lives of a pair of artists – André with his typewriter, Dorine with her cello – and how they relive and reinvent their love together as Alzheimer’s becomes a permanent part of their relationship.

The play is a rollercoaster ride of laughter and tears, a silent maelstrom of emotions conveyed through masks that masterfully navigates between drama and comedy, life and death, love and oblivion.

A show without borders which, in 10 years, has been performed in over 30 countries worldwide.

LOVE AND FORGETFULNESS. Kulunka takes the audience from one emotional extreme to the other, provoking helpless laughter one minute and a lump in your throat the next.  It’s been years since I have felt anything remotely similar.”

I do not know to which wonderful theatrical genre belongs 'André and Dorine', perhaps It is a moving tragicomedy of masks, but I know that it causes the emotion of a real masterpiece.
